FAQ’s

What are your opening times?

We open Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings from March until the end of October with the addition of Sunday nights over Bank Holidays. We also open Friday & Saturday during December.

We’re frequently asked why we don’t open more often. We would love to be able to extend our hours, but Si has long-term health issues which we have to work around. While it would be easy to change what we do, to lighten the workload by buying in pre-prepared produce, this doesn’t align with Si’s passion for food and what he does. Instead, we choose to open less, ensuring everything is freshly made to the high standards Si sets himself. Limited opening is the compromise that has allowed us to keep the restaurant open.

Can you cater for my allergies?

Yes! Everything is freshly made on-site, and our menu changes weekly, meaning we can accommodatece. Please let us know in the advance requirements section on the booking form, and Si will tailor the menu accordingly for most allergies (there’s a diet). with prior noti

Do I have the table for the night?

We only book one sitting, so thefor the night. We serve a set menu with pre-dinner nibbles, followed by three co table is yours urses. Food is served at a relaxed pace, and our guests usually settle in for the whole evening.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

We do ask for a £10 per person deposit; your table is confirmed upon receipt of this deposit, and all deposits are refundable until the Monday before your booking.

We don’t enjoy asking for a deposit; however, unfortunately, there is a long-standing culture of no-shows in Abersoch that has made this necessary. Since we introduced deposits, no-shows and last-minute cancellations have significantly decreased.

If your numbers change, please inform us, as we may be able to adjust our table plan and free up a spot for someone on the cancellation list. We cannot do this without prior notice.

Why don’t you have a phone line?

This comes down to practicalities. Si is a one-man band, and when he’s in the kitchen he would rather focus on the food and providing the best service for our guests. He simply could not manage the number of calls/ booking enquiries at busy times. Bookings are often dealt with late at night after the restaurant is closed and this is the main reason we use email.

Do you take walk-ins?

Yes, if a table is available, we will gladly accommodate a walk-in; however, please be aware that we are often fully booked during peak times.

Are children welcome at The Dining Room?

Due to the intimate nature of the restaurant, we cannot accommodate younger children, highchairs, or prams and pushchairs. Therefore, we do not provide a children’s menu and cannot serve half portions; however, older children who are happy to eat from our set menu are very welcome.

Do you allow dogs in the restaurant?

Due to the restaurant's size and the comfort of other diners, we do not allow dogs. There are several pubs and bars in the village that cater to guests wishing to bring their dogs with them.
